St Columba’s Church located in Tullow is a fine granite church dating from 1833 and is in excellent condition. It is situated on a small hill overlooking the town centre, the former site of a castle and a succession of churches.
The parish is associated with three other churches in nearby Co. Wicklow – Aghold, Mullinacuffe, and Shillelagh.
Detached four-bay single-cell early Gothic Revival Church of Ireland church, c. 1831, with buttresses, tower having turret and crenellated belfry on an octagonal plan and chancel.
In earlier days the church was associated with the Wolseley family, of motor-car fame; many members of the family are buried under St Columba’s. The church contains a splendid monument(1745) to a Wolseley ancestor, Clement Nevill; a remarkable testimony to the Ascendancy period.
Visitors are very welcome at any of our services.
